Korea Research Environment Open Network(KREONET) provided Korea's nation's first nationwide Internet service (TCP/IP, Web) in 1988. In the meantime, many functions have been handed over to the comercial sector. Currently, more than 200 scientific research institutes and educational institutions are currently providing high-performance network services, the Internet, and network application services.
